Festival Miami: The Joshua Redman Trio
Jazz saxophone virtuoso Joshua Redman has released 11 critically acclaimed albums and performed with countless legends including his father, Dewey Redman. He was the artistic director of the SFJAZZ Collective, an all-star ensemble with a commitment to jazz as a living, ever-changing and relevant art form. Redman has returned to his roots of the acoustic trio with the Grammy nominated "Back East," which incorporates a wide range of Eastern and Western cultural ideas, experiences and influences. Screen On The Green Double Feature
Moviegoers are encouraged to bring their blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy a double feature under the stars on the University Green. At 8pm enjoy Iron Man, rated PG-13 and in Blu-ray high definition, about a billionaire inventor and weapons-maker (Robert Downey Jr.) who is kidnapped and forced to build a diabolical weapon. Instead, he uses his intelligence and ingenuity to create an indestructible suit of armor and escape his captors. At 10pm watch Candyman, based on a story by Clive Barker. While researching urban myths, grad student Helen Lyle (Virginia Madsen) learns about Candyman (Tony Todd). According to legend, anyone who looks into a mirror and chants his name five times will summon him but at the cost of his or her own life. Forbes analyzes Atwater's pivotal role in the rise of the Republican Party in the 1980s and documents a decidedly less partisan side of the strategist, including his passion for playing the blues.
